Over the past year the Education Coordinating Council's Truancy Task Force created by Judge Nash of the Superior Juvenile Courts, has been studying tardiness and truancy The Community Rights campaign has been looking at best practices of school districts addressing attendance and how to improve it. This past Tuesday, the Dignity in Schools coalition which includes CRC, ACLU and Public Counsel presented to the task force its study and recommendations on alternatives to the criminalization of truancy, tardiness and attendance in Los Angeles County.
