Hamid Khan: Surveillance Practices of LAPD

Hamid Khan is the Executive Director of the South Asian Network (SAN), a grassroots community based organization. A first generation immigrant from Pakistan, Hamid came to the United States in 1979. Embracing the model of shared leadership, SAN has created multilingual, culturally appropriate approaches to community organizing encompassing community outreach and education, services and policy advocacy. Such internal diversity has enabled SAN to reach out more effectively to the broad South Asian community--positvely affecting the lives of thousands of people.

In addition to his role at SAN, Hamid also serves on the boards of the Southern California Library for Social Studies and Research and the National Netwrok for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, a national forum that works to promote a just immigration and refugee policy in the United States and to defend and expand the rights of all immigrants and refugees, regardless of imigrantion status. He has been a leading advocate for the peace movement, speaking up aginst the ongoing wave of occupation and violence.
