Dedrick Muhammad & Carl Bloice: The Economic and Housing Crises in the Black Community
hosted by Damon Azali-Rojas on 10/24/2009
Left
out of the mainstream dialogue on the economic crisis and the flood of
housing foreclosures is that African Americans are disproportionately
bearing the brunt, with staggering rates of unemployment, poverty, and
foreclosures. Dedrick Muhammad of Institute for Policy Studies has said it spells "the destruction of the Black middle class."
What are the current impacts and future prospects of both the Black
middle class and the Black poor? What possibility exists for meaningful
government intervention and what should the demands of the Black
community be in the face of this crisis. Damon Azali-Rojas talks with
Dedrick Muhammad of the Institute for Policy Studies and Carl Bloice of
the Black Commentator.
