On Thursday November 19th the Bus Riders Union hosted
Re-Envisioning Public Transit, a transportation briefing that brought together bus
riders, transit planners, politicians, unions and community
organizations to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the fight
for climate justice, jobs, and a first class transit system.
Bus
Riders Union lead organizer Esperanza Martinez presents on the BRU's
Clean Air and Economic Justice plan, a bus-centered model for urban
transportation, economic development, and environmental justice in Los
Angeles. This proposal calls on the Los Angles County Metropolitan
Transportation Authority (MTA) to create a much larger, more affordable
and efficient bus system.
