Today in El Salvador, Mauricio Funes and Salvador Sanchez Ceren were inaugurated as the nation's first president and vice-president from the Farabundo Martà National Liberation Front (FMLN). The one-time popular guerrilla movement is now the nation's major Left political party. Salvadoran political commentator Hector Perla discusses the historic significance for the Salvador people of the FMLN taking the reigns of power, and what we can expect in terms of policy priorities and challenges from the new administration. Alexis Stoumbelis, organizer with the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CIPES), speaks live from El Salvador about the celebration in the streets and the messages Funes struck in his inaugural address.
