Los Angeles Students Face Fare Increases

Despite repeated assurances that the increases in fares would not affect students, a recent News Release
from UCLA shows fare increases that will go into effect on August 1, thereby increasing the costs to students and their parents for the new quarter.

Students traveling to the campus will be paying a 33% increase with the BruinGo pass, while the LA DOT Commuter pass will increase by 25%. The UCLA faculty will see an increase of 21% for their Go Metro pass beginning with the Fall quarter. A breakdown of prices on all the transit services that feed into UCLA campus was included in the news release.

This is part of a citywide series of fare increases and service cuts that have affected the Los Angeles Metro, LA DOT's DASH as well as Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus.
