LA City Council to Raise Fares and Cut Service

In a continuing illustration of the nation-wide transit crisis, the Los Angeles City Council has voted a series of fare increases and service cuts for the Dash service as well as the Commuter Express service.

Dash Fare to Double
The first fare increase on the Dash will go into effect of August 1, with the fare doubling to .50 cents on July 1, 2011. The City Council will also be cutting lines that serve Hollywood, Hyde Park and Warner Center.

Commuter Express also to be cut

As reported in the Los Angeles Times [1] article, the Commuter Express line will also face fare hikes and increases. The City is planning to raise the fare structure $.60-1.15 depending on the distance traveled. The Commuter Express will also lose 3 of its lines.
