As one of the most effective worker centers and movement centers in the southewest, the Southwest Workers Union [2] has been at the forefront of the Environmental Justice and independent workers union movement in the US, organizing school workers and service industry workers throughout San Antonio, Valle of Rio Grande, and other parts of Texas. The organization will be celebrating its 20th anniversary later this year and is currently in the process of organizing the Foro de las Americas in Guatemala City happening October 7 – 12.
