Uprose: United Puerto Rican Organization of Sunset Park

Here in Sunset Park Brooklyn, we have 200,000 cars a day going through the Gowanus Expressway. Our community complains about asthma, cancer, respiratory disease but the excuse for neglecting us is that it is too expensive to mitigate.

Where We Are

Uprose: United Puerto Rican Organization of Sunset Park
166A 22nd St
Brooklyn, NY 11232
Founded in 1966, by Puerto Rican activists as the emerging Puerto Rican community faced social service and social justice challenges, UPROSE is Brooklyn's oldest Latino community-based organization. In 1996 our mission shifted to organizing, advocacy and developing intergenerational indigenous leadership through activism. In reaching these goals, our primary efforts focus on environmental, social and economic justice.
