Take action against school police abuse
Have you ever experienced physical or emotional abuse by school police or security?
Have you ever felt verbally disrespected by school police or security?
Have you ever felt that school police or security used excessive force on you, such as pushing, mace or excessive restraint?
If you answered yes to any of these questions or you have experienced other behavior by school police or security that you feel was inappropriate and/or a violation of your civil & human rights, then we urge you to do the following:
1) Call LAUSD to register your complaint:
Pupil Services 213-241-3844
Chief Operating Office 213-241-4133
2) Call us at (213) 387-2800 to share your story and so we can track whether your complaint was appropriately handled.
3) Join our campaign to stop school police abuse and misconduct and to establish a clear and accountable process to handle complaints.
WHO WE ARE: The Labor/Community Strategy Center is a civil rights organization based in Los Angeles. Our Community Rights Campaign seeks to challenge and reverse the "pre-prison" conditions in LAUSD high schools. These conditions include abuse by school police and security and the use of ticketing for discipline issues. We believe students need more mental health services, counseling and peer mediation, rather than the "zero tolerance" environment of frequent suspensions, tickets, courts and police.
