Walkout! Movie Screening
In light of the nationwide student movements to protect the right of quality public education, Cleveland High School's Taking Action is screening the movie- Walkout! The film Walkout is an inspiring movie that depicts the struggles of the Chicana/o movement in the late 1960's. These struggles are mirrored today as Chicanos and Blacks continue to fight for access to a quality and socially just education.
After the movie, we will engage in a critical discussion about the Community Rights' strategic plan to push back against "pre-prisonin" and push out of our Black and Latino youth and end the evening with some dope spoken word poetry. This event is a fundraiser for Taking Action, so we are asking for a donation of $5- $25 on a sliding scale (no one is turned away for lack of funds) to support the development of future anti-racist, grassroots community organizers. We look forward to you joining and participating in a stimulating discussion and we hope that you are inspired to share some of your poetry!
