Commentary:LA Activists Push for Overhaul of Harsh Discipline Policies

In a commentary for KCET Public Television's SoCal Focus, Adolfo Guzman-Lopez shines a light on the victiories of activists working to reform policy regarding school disicpline.  "While teacher evaluations and union negotiations get the headlines, education activists claimed several victories this year in their effort to shut down what they call the "schools to prison pipeline."

Guzman-Lopez goes on to quote YJC member Claudia Gomez who speaks about her difficulties as she struggled in the wake of her olders sisters death, wishing that "a teacher, counselor, any adult would have stepped in to help when she started getting into fights and skipped school.
