Strategy Center's Tammy Luu, Nobel prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz join panel challenging G-20 Summit
Strategy Center organizer Tammy Bang Luu will co-moderate a discussion led by Nobel Prize- winning economist Joseph Stiglitz, titled "Challenging the G20's Agenda of Corporate Globalization." Chaired by President Obama, the G-20 Summit opens this week in Pittsburgh.
Panel participants also include JOHN NICHOLS of The Nation Magazine, CARL REDWOOD, JR. of Hill District Consensus Group, EMIRA WOODS of the Institute for Policy Studies, MIRIAM MIRANDA of the Fraternal Organization of Afro-Hondurans, REV JOHN C. WELCH of Pittsburgh Interfaith Impact Network (PIIN), LEO GERARD of the United Steel Workers.
This discussion kicks off "People's Voices: Challenging the G-20's Agenda of Corporate Globalization" (9/23 -9/25), a series of events that explore adverse impacts of G-20's deregulation, privatization, and "free trade" policies.
The discussion is presented by The Institute for Policy Studies, The Nation Magazine, and the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE). Co-sponsors are Pittsburgh United/Northside United, G-6 Billion, Alliance for Responsible Trade/Hemispheric Social Alliance, Roots of Promise, Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, Pennsylvania American Friends Service Committee, National Jobs with Justice.
