What I liked this year about Spring Break Take Action
Spring Break Take Action this past week really challenged me-in a good way.
The content I learned was great, but the process to learn the material was different. In SBTA, we learn everything on a personal level. Everything becomes individualized. On an average day during SBTA, we had a seminar and used the skills within seminar to organize on the bus.
The people we organize on the bus share a common struggle. SBTA teaches us to communicate to our people that we have this common struggle.
Going through SBTA again makes me remember why I want to be a part of The Strategy Center. I want to be politically aware of issues in my community and how I can combat those issues. Learning about oppression and its impact on ethnic people today really challenges me to gather me priorities. The learning process given by The Strategy Center in their youth internships continues to challenge my ideas and ways of thinking. I think beyond myself and how I can contribute to the movement.
