Take Action to Stop the Racist Fare Increase!

Call MTA Boards members Antonio Villaraigosa, Mark Ridley-Thomas , and Jose Huizar today!

MTA did not and will not silence us! At last Thursday's MTA Board meeting, the BRU defied MTA's attempts to silence us and deny our democratic right to public participation. South LA Supervsior Mark Ridley Thomas claimed to be our strategic ally, yet promised no concrete action. LA City Councilmember Jose Huizar avoided eye contact altogether with our people, while Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa didn't bother to show up.

They all expressed the willingness to make a public hearing happen and in the end turned their backs on us! We will not take these betrayals silently, and we must keep the pressure on. Please take 5 minutes to call their office s with the following message:

"Bus riders will not be silenced. We need you to take concrete action today to stop the MTA fare increase. We urge you to make a motion for a public hearing and a public vote on the fare increase and we demand that you take a public pledge to oppose the fare increase. It is not too late to stop this fare increase and we need leadership from you today!"
